Managing Your Blog’s Bounce Rate

Bounce rate is a fickle little statistic within the blogging world. Specifically, it is the percentage of people that visit your website and decide to go to a second page or not. A high percentage (above 75%) means that most people are coming to your website, reading the link that sent them their, and then moving on. For a normal website, you want this number to be very low and even with a blog, a second page means another pageview and a higher demand from advertisers.

So how can we correctly measure bounce rate within our blog to know if it is good and what are some techniques to manage it?

If you are on WordPress, you have seen that recognizable yellow window at the top with a notification letting you know that there is a new WordPress update to 3.5. For those that do not know the process, a change from 3.4x to 3.5 means that there are big changes in this for you to love, it is not just small fixes. After the jump, we have a list of the changes.

In my 10 years of doing web design work, there are numerous things that scare us. Some of it had to be the issues of multiple browsers that rendered websites differently, programming on different content management system platforms, and the issue of interpreting a client’s idea to actuality. I probably got it wrong more than I got it write, but what I did was more than good that I was shown lots of grace.
