Update On The Colorado Springs Fire

The Colorado Springs fire is continuing on. In fact, the fire chief believes that this whole fire will not be put out until the end of the summer because of how big it is as well as how dry the trees are which burn so easily. On Tuesday, we were just three people within 33,000 people who had to evacuate their homes. Since then, a majority of people have been able to return with the understanding that they may have to leave at a moments notice again. Unfortunately, in Tuesday’s destruction, 386 homes have been lost and at least 2 people killed in the fire. This is the most devastating wildfire in Colorado history by 150 homes.

Please continue to pray for this community. Here are some more photos of the fire and its destruction:

The video below is an amazing result of a deaf son receiving an cochlear implant and getting to hear his mother for the first time. This amazing result is truly touching. And let me say for all you ministers, there is a great sermon here, but the first couple of times, watch it with just a loving heart and then introduce it into your lessons. It’s so beautiful.

Social justice has become an essential in youth ministry and for good reason. I myself am part of this Millennial generation and find the deep need to enact my faith out as much as I am learning and reading for ministry. That outpouring goes towards evangelism, discipleship, and service projects. The reason that social justice is so strong for us is that we are being Jesus to these people. It does not take a doctorate in theology to understand Christ through service and compassion.
