A New Year for 78P

It’s officially been one year since we started up the seventy8productions blog and it has been a whirlwind experience full of learning experiences and developing relationships. It has been fun to write for you and we look forward to another year of writing. But that is not all we plan to have for you this year. Here are five things we will be changing/adding in 2012.

  1. Creative Blogging.
We are not one for following the unwritten rules. If you tell us we should write blogs everyday with at least five points to it that are all tweetable, we’d laugh in your face. That may be the gold standard for professional bloggers, but we simply want to provide you with usable material that will help us and you improve your life, ministry, and relationship with God. Anything more is overkill for us.
The hope is that we will be able to bring you better video blog entries, more interviews of ministry experts, and high quality posts to grow you individually as a person and youth pastor as well as your ministry. At the same time, we will be promoting more comments with intriguing and open ended questions, so we would love to hear what you have to say.
  2. More Contests.
The hope is that we can offer some more contests for you the viewers. Last year, the best contest by far was the guest posts, so see at least three more of those this year along with at least a couple other variations, like a prize for the most comments or photo submissions. Honestly, we want more interaction from you guys because we want to build a community and we recognize that this may take a little bit of incentives on our part. We’re okay with that.
  3. More Than Just Blogging.
Yes, we want to blog, we love it, but that is not the only thing we do. We are here to help you in many different ways. That means doing small or non-urgent projects for you like Simply Youth Ministry TOOLS or Engaging the Shadows Twitter background. (Want something done for you? Visit our contact page and ask!) At the same time, we are going to try to upload regularly projects that we are working on for ourselves or just because. This includes video series, WordPress theme templates, and free stuff for you.
  4. Collaboration With Other Sites.
We love to empower others and know that there are a lot of great websites out there. We currently have three websites we will be working with on a regular basis next year: YouthMin.org, Terrace Crawford’s Coaching Network, and Churchm.ag. Share the love and leave some comments on their sites!
  5. A Youth Ministry Games Database.
This is a bit of a secret, but I am sure that the name gives away a lot. There will be more to come as we develop it, but we hope that by Jan 30 that we will have some logos, a launch page, and will be looking for beta testers!

Which of these ideas most excites you? Any others you would want to see added or changed?
